Windows of Inspiration a new project
REFECTIONS IN A BLUE NIGHT
I have several paintings done from windows as I am fascinated by windows both looking out and looking in. This is a painting I did from the window in my room at the hospital. I was recuperating from a heart attack and continuing to paint and tackle difficult subjects was very therapeutic. The painting because of the imagery is both inside and outside at the same time - that was the way I was feeling. I was very much inside my body - more than I wanted to be - but in my mind I was outside into my life's activities as if nothing had happened.

International Artist Day
In honor of International Artist Day I am posting my study of Rembrandt's painting.

Rembrandt was well regarded in his own day, although he stood outside the mainstream of Dutch art. His contemporaries developed new secular subjects - landscape, still life, and genre painting wheras Rembrandt's first love was Biblical history. I choose to do a study of him because he was a master of low key painting and this really interested me. Rembrandt did many self portraits. Learning from the masters from around the world is key to improving your own work.

A new creative project. Like any creative project inspiration fuels a modivation that just needs to be realized. This is the window I look out from my desk in the studio. When I am creating, working or just living. This window like others for individuals around the world provide a quite rest for the eyes, a break to think, reflect, and daydream. I need your help for this project. I want to see your window of inspiration. I want to collect these images and do a project with them. I won't know what I want to do with them for sure until I see them come in, but I just think this will lead to a great project. Please refer to the side bar for submission guidlines. This painting was inspired by my trip last week to RI. Above are my neice and nephew walking on the Weekapaug Beach in Westerly R. I. which is where my parents currently reside. I had many beautiful days on this beach and some stunning reference materialwere obtained. I am sure I will have more paintings coming from this last trip. My favorite subject to paint is the ocean.

Shows
This past month has been hecktic getting ready for show after show. We had three receptions in three diferent towns in the Western Wake area of NC The first picture above shows my studio ready for visitors on the Western Wake Artists Studio Tour. This weekend I had a good turn out. It was fun to meet such interesting people and hear their comments about my work. Sales were good with some commission in the wings. Thank you to all my patrons!
Last weekend was the Cary Spring Daze Arts and Craft Festival. It was a cool day and the weather was kind. The rain held off just until break down time. I really enjoyed seeing friends, neighbors, students from the past and my regular patrons as well as meeting new enthusiasts!
